Where are most of the bars and nightclubs situated in the city of Melbourne,Australia?

Hi i am moving there in a couple of weeks and was just wondering how far i might have to travel on buses or trams e.t.c to have a decent night on the town. Ps are there any Drum and b clubs or promoted nights anywhere if so where? thanks
