I was found not guilty can I be compensated for the time I spent in jail?

My brother was charged with aggravated ault. He was held in jail for 2 years and 35 days. He was released on a PR bond for 1 1/2 weeks, and after attending trial, it was determined that he was not guilty. Via the DA, the accuser was said to need pyschological help and medication. Shouldn't the state compensate him for the lost time in jail? He lost everything he own in the process of going to jail.
